The dreaded zipper...

Hello fellow crafter's,

Tonight I'm heading to Fabrications Ottawa to take my first ever sewing class!
I'm excited and also nervous...I've never taken a sewing class before, nor have I sewed on a different machine before. I'm still getting to know my Huqsvarna Viking machine, so far she's been good to me, but I've yet to really use most of the features!

The reason I'm doing this is because typically I make my pillows with overlapping backs...like so:

 

Tonight however I will be learning to put a zipper on a pillow! I've never used the zipper foot on my machine before...I'm not even sure if I'll want to put zippers on pillows, but I figured it's something to learn and might come in handy in the future!

What I'm most excited about however is getting to buy new fabric to make said pillow! I have my eye on some of Fabrications Japanese fabrics...so unique, so fun! You can see them here:

Fingers crossed that it goes well tonight, either way I'm happy to be out meeting other creative people, learning new things and getting to buy new fabric!

New Fabric Store in Ottawa!

I am so beyond excited about the new fabric store that recently opened in my hometown of Ottawa Ontario!
Fabrications is located at 1098A Somerset Street West and has been open since the end of November.
I went in yesterday to see what it was all about and instantly fell in love with their fabrics and with the fun environment they've created.
They will be offering sewing classes in the New Year, and their website is almost up and running!
Check out this new addition to Ottawa's growing crafting scene!

My Craft Room!

I wanted to post a few pictures of my craft room! It's my favourite room in the house:) It's going to be getting a good clean soon and some re-organizing so that I can start on my new projects! My 2013 New Years Resolution is to craft ALL YEAR...not just in time for the November shows!
(It's not usually this messy but craft season just ended...)

Craft Shows 2012

Wow, what a crafting season...didn't think I'd make it, but after all was said and done, I was very happy with what I accomplished in a short time! I was very happy with my craft collection...I did a few new things with Embroidery and tried my hand at patchwork!

We're home safe and sound from NYC, and I was so happy I got the chance to go to what is now my FAVOURITE yarn/crafty store, The Purl Soho...here are some photos of me in front of the store!
